Portland Jams

I was mesmerized by Kele Goodwin at Mississippi Studios on Saturday and thought I should share the tunes. I found out from Nico that he is our neighbor and works at our neighborhood whole foods. Oh Portland and their hidden gems.

Making Progress

Quick post to get some feedback from ya'll. The place is getting bright and colorful with all my estate sale finds....yellow rattan pattern cushions, green/turquoise floral curtains, coral marmoleum under dinette, wood laminate flooring, aluminum backsplash behind desk. I'm keeping the 2 original lights pictured but need to find something for above the table....

Forage your fruit!

Find free fruit, nuts, and herbs in your neighborhood at neighborhoodfruit.com. I found cherries, blueberries, raspberries, plums, figs, apricots, and rosemary within 1 mile of my house! Good luck. I hope your neighborhoods are as fruitful as mine!

(Photo taken at a WWOOF Japan farm. One of my jobs was to shell walnuts from a neighborhood tree to make bread with. A lot of work for a cup of walnuts but enjoyable all the same.)

We heard a drum circle off in the distance and followed the sound until we came to this building. This is the new First Nations building on the campus of UVIC. Beautifully done.

woolworth finally!

"Fifty years ago, the F.W. Woolworth building in Greensboro, N.C., stood as a reminder of segregated life in the south. Today, the building stands as a monument to the power of human courage and its ability to bring about social change. The International Civil Rights Center & Museum is more than just a building designed to house historical exhibits and artifacts. It is a place to witness, to experience and to discuss how to affect social change in our own nation and around the world."

finally!!! today is the grand opening! how long has this been under construction? at least the 6 or so years i've been in greensboro.

cardboard safari

I stumbled upon this website while I was looking for creative Christmas decorations. I was going to re-create the tree, hoping to find cardboard sheets stashed in the Gatewood building. No luck though :(
Next craft project - the heart wreath. And of course, for A: the space ship!!
